    My wife and I are both retired emergency physicians who didn't learn much about physical therapy in medical school or residency. We found some of Will's videos on YouTube and they were extremely effective at solving joint aches and muscle pain.
    I had chronic Achilles tendon and calf pain for decades. My wife found some information in this book that diminished my pain by 95% within 2 weeks.
    This is a must have bible for anyone over 50 who wants to extend your healthspan or has nagging pain that won't go away.

    I discovered Will on YT over a year ago. His exercise regimens targeting certain areas of the body, together with the visual how-to are excellent. Diagnosed with late in life scoliosis and a hip discrepancy resulting in a 1" difference between my right leg from the left, it's critical for me to exercise to relieve mid-back pain, maintain muscle strength and posture.

    Everything he has suggested for my physical needs has helped tremendously! Concerned about balance and leg strength? It's critical to help prevent falls. That, too, is also covered both on YT and in his updated Thriving Beyond Fifty. Buy the book! You won't regret it. However, the new second edition is much better in several ways and has added, useful information and more helpful illustrations and photographs. Mr. Harlow is focused on what is essential, what actually works, and what seniors can do to avoid deterioration and to improve. He also dispels some common misconceptions and provides good guidelines for rehabilitative exercise. Highly recommended!

    Easy informative read with wonderful advice. Would highly recommend for anybody wanting to regain the abilities that tend to slip away from us as we age. I am 80 years and in relative good health with no compromising issues. Recently I have developed knee pain that is making it difficult for me to get out of a chair. The exercises are easy to understand and pictures aplenty. Highly recommend.

    I got knocked off my feet for two years by Long COVID and Acute Leukemia. I've been using Will Harlow's videos and his previous Thriving beyond 50 to regain my strength. His new book is astounding. First I bought the audio book (narrated by Will's soothing tones) and then I bought the paperback in order to refer to it easier. Through Will's exercises, I have learned to walk properly, improve the rotation in my shoulders, strengthen my rhomboids, and identify the weak muscles that cause Valgus in my left leg. Just to learn that what I have been calling my Gumby leg is a known problem was a revelation! All this helped me to identify the type of physical therapy I need and my new therapists are pleased with my depth of knowledge of what my body needs. Thank you Will! I cannot recommend this book highly enough. If there were ten stars, I would use them.

    In my 74 years I have found that people tend to put total faith in medical science; i.e., the doctor knows how to fix my problems. NO! We still do not know a lot and that is why it is called "medical practice". I am convinced that the best thing we can do as we age is to not rush towards medications and artificial limbs but rather to keep our natural parts as long as possible. This book is an awesome reference for helping us to do just that. Do yourself a favor: buy it and use it!

    I round Will’s videos on You Tube and found his advice for a torn meniscus so helpful that I subscribed to his You Tibe channel and got his new book. Lots of great stuff for keepig mobile, active and independent as we age. I am getting the book for both of my sisters for Christmas. Even if they only read a little bit of it, I know they will find something helpful. I can’t stress enough the importance of being mobile as we age as it will allow me to keep my independence for as long as possible. I highly recommend both this book and his You Tube videos.

    I was really excited to get this book-and I wasn’t expecting it to be as large and thick and comprehensive as it is, I know a little more than the average bear because I’ve had to sort of heal myself having diagnosed first, for now I’m at six auto immune diseases-but I’m living a pretty normal life even though I do have joint pain it’s nothing like it was.

    I was looking to step it up a notch and looking also for some exercises and moves like that which I stop doing when Covid hit I used to go to the gym and I never went back

    But this young man is not only knowledgeable, but oh my gosh, you can tell he really really cares-and that’s what’s missing in Medicine these days

    This weekend I’m gonna sit down and highlight just three of the exercises to start with because I’m starting from scratch again. I also want to read it cover to cover it’s a large book.!

    All I can say is, it’s worth every penny buy it buy it buy it …and I don’t know him. His website and info is even new to me. I stumbled across it but I am a real fan now . ❤️

He explains the " how and why" issues can develop as well as including specific exercises (with photos) to help paricular conditions. Also included are sections on general well-being and the mind -body connection. Will provides a comprehensive index of exercises that are covered (as well as links to 9 videos on his website) 2) literature citations which informed his advice. This is excellent well-organized reference book with clear explanations. It's an useful companion to Will's excellent YouTube channel.

    I have been following this gent and he offers videos with exercises for us more mature folks very awesome. He says there are 450 pages in his book, but the majority of the content is talking about topics that if you need to ask questions for what an area of your body how it performs, the topics that if you have to ask you are really a beginner knowing your body. So, there is much written about those topics and very little exercises offered and very limited to the parts of the body, not the whole body is addressed with exercises at all.

    With that said if you need to understand your body and why it functions the way it does this book is for you.

    UPDATE INITIAL REVIEW ONLY GIVING THREE STARS...

    After reviewing Will's book more closely I did not realize he was offering more exercises for each topic, in addition to the section offered for exercises only, so rather than just three stars I am now giving this book five stars Will covers all aspects of my needs and his videos Will offers are immeasurable, this man is awesome.

    Simple and effective exercises for the over 50 crowd

    I bought this book after watching many videos of Will Harlow's exercises for people over 50 years old. Wow...am I ever impressed with Mr. Harlow! He actually specializes in helping older people with simple and effective exercises to stay active, continue or regain strength and get rid of or lessen pains, so we can live a healthy life. He explains different body parts and muscle movements in detail so well, I'm happy that I don't have to have a medical degree to understand what he's talking about. It's important to know how the body parts work together and what to do if something isn't up to par.

    I broke a bone several months ago and haven't been able to get around as much since. I had 2 different physical therapists that gave me exercises that really didn't do anything, probably because they both talked and treated me like I was old and feeble. Will Harlow doesn't do that. He's such a young, kind and caring man that shares his knowledge to help people. Just watch some of his videos on the internet -- Will Harlow, HT Physio in Farnham, England and you'll see what I mean.

    I've been doing several exercises that Mr. Harlow suggested for the types of problems I was having for about 2 weeks now and my mobility has VASTLY improved! I've had more physical gains in these last 2 weeks than I have in the last 6 months. I'm not quite ready for the dance floor yet, but I'll get there. Continuing to move the old bones is not just necessary, it's vital if one wants to live a nice, comfy and fun life...like when we were younger. I refuse to let life pass me by from the couch.

    I follow Will Harlow on You Tube, and he has provided me with some major exercises, tips and visual demonstrations that have helped me immensely. I had to have his book, and it is filled with exercises and advice for every part of the body. What he does on You Tube carries on beautifully in the book. It's filled with pictures, as he demonstrates just how to perform the various stretches, exercises, and routines that are sure to make a major difference in one's physical fitness. I can't praise Will enough for his thoroughness and developing all these exercises. He carefully explains the problems, what is needed, why you have this problem, and he shows you, in the pictures, just how to perform these routines, while making sure that these are beneficial for each person. I love how thorough the book is as he aims each part of the book at another area of the body, according to your needs. Anyone who is anxious to become more fit, especially after reaching fifty (these are beneficial for all ages, actually), needs to have this book at their side every day. Will specializes in the over-50 group of people, and they are all in good hands. I rely on him and the book to keep me in good condition, and highly recommend it to everyone.

    I’ve enjoyed watching Will Harlow’s videos ever since I discovered him on youTube not too long ago. When I heard he was putting out a new book I ordered it right away. Am I ever glad I did! It has so much information, given in an easy to understand way and addresses everything you can imagine we older folks sometimes now face in our everyday lives. I highly recommend getting a copy for friends and family for Christmas, birthdays or just because you want them to be in better shape to face their everyday lives.

    I also would urge you to watch his videos on youTube. He is so easy to understand, explains everything in detail and it’s like watching a friend of the family or dear relative. Try it…you’ll see what I mean.

    We have to put the work into it, it’s not a “read this book and you’re all better” type thing, but I guarantee it’s far more helpful and informative than you can begin to imagine.

It's smartly organized to allow you to zero in on problems you may already be experiencing, with gentle and practical movements to relieve them. Of course, you'll be the one doing the work, but I think you'll find that Harlow is an excellent guide.

    There is a list of exercises in the beginning of the book, but I definitely think you'll get much more out of it if you read it all.

    I discovered Will's videos recently and soon thereafter bought the first edition of this book. As a frugal consumer, I should have been disappointed that a new version was coming out. But as a person who benefits from Will's advice, I was elated that I'd be getting more guidance and more clarity.

    I have pre-ordered the book and was counting days before its arrival. Here is the reason: Will's videos and books contain vast amounts of information related to many body parts. Almost everything seems relevant to me, I want to know everything, and as the result, I procrastinate. With the new book, I organized myself. I prioritized the body parts that are my greatest concerns (hips and knees), reviewed relevant exercises and developed a plan for the next month.

    Books and videos complement each other. I can lay the book next to me to make sure that I follow the guidance. The book's descriptions and photographs are mostly sufficient. Occasionally, I might also check the corresponding videos for minor details, e.g., should the feet be close together or a bit apart.

    I titled this review "Life-changing" because this book is. Being able to walk and conduct activities of daily living without pain is a new life. I had this life before, and now I am working on getting it back. Thank you, Will!

    This book is incredible. It is clear, concise, practical, and incomparably complete: the best manual I’ve seen on issues people face as years and bodily wear-and-tear accumulate. It isn’t just therapeutic (I keyed in to my own area of need first)… it’s clearly a dose of prevention (and I look forward to reading the rest of it). His videos are exceptional and this condenses more into a tiny volume than imaginable. He has tweaked the organization and layout and also the contents from the first version… it really is even better and worth getting. I found the presentation notably improved. This could save vast amounts of money on consultations or certainly will make consultations you do need all the more efficient and cost effective. Either way it’s a treasure chest of real world practical knowledge, and giving a copy than friend may well be as good a way to bless someone you care about as anything I can think of. It’s that unique and that good!

He provides information for seniors for all stages of their life and fitness levels. You can use information from his book, e-mails, and videos to be the best/healthiest/mobile/pain free (or reduced)/happy person you can be as you grow old (it is a process of continual change)! I definitely apply his information for preventing injuries and improving my fitness. Recommend Will's book and subscribing to his videos. Thank you Will!

    I have been a practicing chiropractor for over 40 years. During that time, I have read hundreds of books on health and fitness. This book is one of the very few books that I can say is a must read. There is great information that can benefit many people, not just those over 50. Easy to read, easy to follow, easy to implement. Learned about this author from his many YouTube videos. His honesty and enthusiasm is contagious. He really seems to care and it shows it what he has published here.

    I have been quite pleased with this book. I watch his You Tube channel also, and they complement each other nicely. I broke my tibia and fibula last year which required plates and screws to put it all back together, my inability to do much for almost a year led to a stiff flabby body. Now I’m trying to regroup and get my flexibility back. It’s a slow process but I want to do it right, and the information in the book as well as his You Tube channel have helped immensely. The videos are great but the book gets more into the how and why as well as more variety of subjects.

    I only bought this book to support Will Harlow and his work, after his online videos were instrumental in freeing me from excruciating and crippling sciatica pain. I can't say enough good about the resources, advice, and tools he's posted online. They're concise and instructive (dare I say, even entertaining!) and have proven invaluable in healing my health issues, all presented by an eminently likable, intelligent, and knowledgable physiotherapist.

    Unfortunately, I'm 70 and can no longer read books in print form, so I only buy books in Kindle or PDF form where I can blow up the font size on my PC/tablet.

    If this comes out in Kindle form, I'll buy it again.

    I have had some of my own similar complaints or heard them from others. My back hurts. My hips hurt. My neck hurts. I have arthritis so I cannot do many physical activities. Will Harlow addresses so many common complaints and provides strategies for what CAN BE DONE to lose the pain and restore mobility. What he says makes sense from my times at physical therapy. His suggestions will also help you determine if you are getting the proper treatment. I saw his video on Facebook I believe—from you tube on getting up from the floor without grabbing on to something. I just totally realized lately that I could not get up without assistance holding or pulling myself up. What a downer! His video is so perfect. He shows about five steps. Simple exercises are provided for each step. Harlow recommends mastery of each exercise before moving forward. It may take six months, depending on each individual. Each step makes you stronger. So, the exercise for getting me off the floor led me to the book which answers many of the aging ills. Face it. We either accept that we will age and not be able to get around the pain, or be a stakeholder in our future. Stronger or weaker? Dependent and in pain? Independent because we are knowledgeable and accept responsibility for our health? Sometimes, our problems compound because we want everyone else to make sure we are well. My Best friend died because she liked her easy chair. Buy the book and share it with your family. For me, exercise and habits are way too hard, but I am beyond the point of waiting for a miracle.
