    I’m a new yoga instructor, 200 hour certification. I came to yoga as a trail marathoner who wanted to make yoga a bigger part of my life.
    I love power yoga, but there isn’t a studio where I Iive. So- I’ve started leading my own classes or rather inviting people to join me in a public space. This book has helped me tremendously! It’s also the 6th or 5th yoga book I’ve recently purchased, so when I say it’s the best- I’ve been doing some buying and reading! I’m on a whole yoga education and I’ve concluded power yoga is my jam.
    What I love:
    1. photos with names (both) and instructions. Additionally, when poses are used in flows, there’s a page number a you can easily go back and find the asana/instructions/names/cues/photos. Also muscle diagrams (target points)- neat addition.
    2. Many fun flows from easy warm ups to intense power workouts. All sequences have the photos .
    3. There isn’t a bunch of BS text about the author and their journey… it’s a yoga book and that’s it.
    4. Buy it. I’ve already dog eared the crap out of this book and included flows in my sequences.
    5. Winner winner - great for anyone, don’t be to be a yogi to appreciate it. It’s also fairly slim and small, which is surprising with how dense it is. Namaste

    Sean Vigue's book is not just FOR athletes. It builds, molds, and sculpts athletic bodies, minds, and spirits: all with weight you already carry with you every day, not one ounce more :)

    I first encountered Sean Vigue's practice on the internet 5 months ago, and I was less experienced and less strong than a beginner. I never imagined that, 5 months later, this book would become part of my daily routine. It is very accessible, detailed, and gradually challenges you at your own pace. It brings a sense of accomplishment and challenge that is both engaging and humbling.

    Thanks to the poses and the sequences, I experience and feel positive changes inside out and outside in, in every inch and fiber of muscles I never felt before. I have become much more flexible, open, ambitious, and peaceful, in my daily life as well as in my my running routine: I am running faster, longer, and more efficiently; I am able to increase my mileage more efficiently and more safely, and even more often than before. Even when I play tennis, I feel much stronger, vigilant, and body feels "sharp", yes! I never would have thought I would use these words to describe myself! All thanks to this book and to Sean.

    I cannot imagine my daily life without it, and I already pre-ordered the Pilates for Athletes book.

    As a yoga teacher, tennis player, and golfer I can personally highly recommend this book. I learned about Sean from his awesome YouTube videos. He seems like such a genuine and authentic person. His videos are super creative and funny. He always makes me laugh and I feel like I know him. If you are feeling lonely, his videos will make you feel like you are practicing with a friend. This book is an excellent addition to anyone's book collection. I can't wait to get his Pilates book next!

    All you need is this book, and some stretchy clothes!

    This book can be used in many ways. 1) You can research and build your own flows. 2) You can use the flows that are written into the back of the book, and you can build your competence and understanding by researching each move. 3) You can use the sports classifications to develop flows based on the recommendations of Coach Vigue.

    Any way you look at it, this book is foundational for people that want to unplug from the internet, and get into yoga in a deeper way.

    It's easy to understand the poses by looking at the pictures, and a brief explanation of the moves is given for each pose. Also, tells you which poses benefit which body parts and gives a list of useful poses for different sports. The back fifth of the book gives you some yoga flows you can follow for various purposes, such as improving endurance or core strength. A very well thought out and organized book. Very impressed overall!

Once you feel comfortable with the poses, there are so many great workouts from simple warm-ups/cool-downs to enduring workouts that'll leave you sweating!

    This is a very nice book and it’s easy to pick up and use. Sean’s YouTube videos have changed my life. I do yoga with them everyday, for free! Sean is an excellent instructor and with this book I am able to make sure I’m doing the poses correctly and I also use it to ad extra poses to my favorite videos. I have learned a lot from the videos and an even deeper knowledge of yoga with this book. Very nice book!

    If I'm honest, I only picked this book up to support Mr Vigue and his amazing youtube channel (I've only skimmed the book as it's a Chrismtas present for myself).
    For the past 6 months I have been doing yoga / pilates with a bunch of people in the office using his videos and they are fantastic. His irreverance and enthusiasm make every session enjoyable. And my back has massively improved, along with my flexibility. My only dissapointment from skimming through was that half the pics were of some other guy doing yoga?!

    My wife and I choose from one of the many routines before our daily morning runs. This is fun, resilience-building exercise. Each page identifies the effected muscle groups and the related competitive sport. It’s a well made paperback book with large colorful pictures. Straight up, useful and engaging. No pseudo spiritualism or navel gazing. Both of us have really improved core muscle strength and balance. It’s an athlete’s secret weapon. Your living room floor is all you need.

    AMAZING BOOK!! As a personal trainer, marathoner and former dancer, it's hard to maintain flexibility and keep strength and power in my muscles. Running shortens, dance lengthens, weight training shortens..you get the point. This book kept me in line for the last 5 months. I was able to get through an entire marathon training process without issues with my IT band, hamstring, quads and calves. Coach Vigue's exercises for runners was the perfect post long run recovery. After my race, the transition back to more strength training, was so much easier because of these exercises. I now, add more of these stretches to my own training programs to help my clients as well. This book is perfect if you are just starting, but also progresses for those that need more of a challenge. I HIGHLY recommend having this book as a integral part of any fitness library! Thank you Sean!

    Power Yoga for Athletes is truly an AMAZING book for any athlete. I competitively ran cross country & track throughout high school, and had success (state medalist in xc, district champion in xc, state qualifier in track, and even a college athletic scholarship). However I pulled my hamstring multiple times, had ship splints,hip flexor pain, knee pain and achilles tendon problems. I never put the balance back to my body after running. This book gives athletes a true advantage to whatever their sport may be. The posses and flows not only stretch the body, but they also provide stability and strength. I highly recommend this book! Also, Sean Vigue's youtube channel never fails to lift my spirits! :)

What makes this one unique is that it helps the reader identify specific asanas for specific sports training. It's concise, informative, and actually very useful for most every yoga practitioner.     Sean Vigue's Power Yoga For Athletes is an excellent resource for newbies to the world of yoga like myself. I purchased two copies: one for home and one for work. This is book is chocked full of easy to follow and well explained/illustrated poses and flows that are both fun and challenging. There are quick flows for those days where one's schedule is a bit compressed..and there are longer flows with 30 plus poses that really stretch you out have you dripping. Thanks Coach Vigue

    This is an excellent book of yoga for balance, flexibility, strength and wellness. Each pose is clearly explained with a great photo, body diagrams pinpointing what areas are being addressed and which sports the pose may help. Sean discusses injury prevention, breathing, endurance and other important aspects of yoga all while inspiring the reader to keep going. Make no mistakes, while the title says "for atheletes" (and very much is) this book IS for everyone, just follow his instructions and take your time. It has helped my back, neck, strength, flexibility, and general energy and relaxation. You can choose to do whichever poses you need in any variation or do the power flows. If you want even more inspiration and FUN practice with his YouTube videos. He incorporates movies, music and trivia into his seriously athletic practice! This book is also really easy and enjoyable to read. It is laid out very c!early with great photos, diagrams and lists!

    Sean Vigue's book is easy to understand and thorough. I really enjoy his knowledge. And, he also has a YouTube channel, so go check that out!

    Someone from my yoga class showed me this book and I really wanted my own copy. It has great ideas for me to adapt my routine and the pictures are fantastic. It really helps that they show which muscles are affected by different poses and how to make each pose. I am not currently in sports, but it is nice to see which poses help improve performance with different sports. They don't just go over poses, but have some routines to practice for every day stretching and self maintenance. My lower back is degenerating, so I'm using this book to help me focus on stretching my lower back safely. Check it out for yourself! I'm showing my family and friends this book already.

You don't have to be an athlete, by the way, to benefit from this instructional manual. It not only has clear instructions with photos and diagrams, but it also shows what muscles are targeted.     I'm an absolute beginner at yoga. I've looked at a number of yoga books. This is the only one that clearly, concisely describes how to do yoga. More importantly, it has dozens of routines (called flows) that combine a number of yoga poses into a coherent workout. Although this is geared towards athletes, I think anyone could benefit from it. Plus Sean's Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/motleyfitness) is a great supplement to this book.

I've learned new poses through this book. I workout 6 days a week with HIiT training, yoga, Pilates, running, weights and I'm subscribed to Sean Vigue fitness channel! Thank you for your hard work!

    I'm a pretty well-rounded athlete and like to include power yoga in my routine. This is my go to book for my power yoga days.

    Normal yoga doesn't really do it for me because while I appreciate the flexibility training, it doesn't incorporate enough strength moves for me to feel like I got a good workout in. I've been performing flows from this book 1x per week for the last couple of months and it has really made a big difference.

    I notice I don't feel as beat up during the week anymore from all of my other training (trail runs, olympic lifting, martial arts). I attribute a lot of that to this book. I highly recommend it.

    Why get the book when you can watch Sean on YouTube for free? Well three main reasons: a) support the guy - he has to make a living and that requires some positive cash flow, b) when your already familiar with the flows, the book provides a fast refresh, c) rah position is described in more detail than in the videos, plus the sports and muscles it relates to, so a deeper understanding can be gained.

    So if you like Sean's stuff, but this book, you won't regret!

    d) bonus reason = no constant monologue! ;-)

    This is an excellent book for those who want to create their own yoga sessions that compliment their athletic endeavors. I would say up front it was not that easy to create my own session - there are some predone you can use if you like - but so far it's been the best at letting me set a routine that works for me by giving me some help. I pre ordered this a long time ago so was very excited to download it. I don't know the author or his previous work so this was new to me.I've been doing yoga a little while and I consider myself a newbie. I frequently use yoga to enhance my running and for cross training. There are times when I know certain areas of my body need some help, I'm particularly tight in an area or (like now) I've got an injury. That's where this book comes in very helpful. It is sorted by type and then you can also see what areas of your body the pose affects. It's great to have so many variations available on poses - and gives a lot of variety. There are complete sequences in the back for you to go by with varying routines. In general I prop it up and then just use a routine or I create my own by practicing the poses and then just writing them down (title) to jog my memory. The book lays flat pretty easily and I find myself referring to it and

    This is a wonderful book for yogis of all experience levels. One of the biggest challenges of yoga (especially when practicing at home) is having proper alignment and form. This book uses text and images to thoroughly explain how to position yourself in a large library. Sean's yoga and fitness expertise comes through on every page. I highly recommend this book for anyone interest in introducing yoga into their fitness routine or refining their practice.

Of course I was excited to get my hands on his book, which is colorful, glossy and fun. So glad I have the paper version. Great index and guide in the back about doing yoga for specifics sports. This is a must have for althletes doing yoga :)

    I must admit I was a little skeptical about a yoga book but decided to go with this one by Sean Vigue after taking a few of his classes, plus I love his teaching style and inimitable wit ! Am I glad I did as it is an excellent book, the exercises are very clear and easy to follow both from the photographs and excellent descriptions too. Also I love the way the exercises are tailored to personal activity preference. I am a keen swimmer so was pleased about that ! This book is excellent and I would recommend it to any one at any level of fitness.

    I've followed Sean Vigue on YouTube for a couple of years and his new book Power Yoga for Athletes is an amazing resource for all athletes, yoga followers and basically anyone searching for creative ideas to work particular muscles to improve in sports or everyday fitness. I love how Sean simply breaks the book down for the reader by showing different types of poses like warriors, standing poses, planks and core. Then the book goes into more detail by stringing together flows so you can create your own workout. The photos are excellent and poses done perfectly. Merely explaining the pose would not be enough! The photos include the muscles targeted as well as the sports the pose benefits. Yoga is an excellent way to cross train the entire body and can make any athlete (or non athlete) more flexible, resilient and strong. This book is a definite must read and will become your favorite resource for yoga in all capacities!

    I love this book! I’ve been practicing yoga for a while in class, but found it difficult to remember all but the simplest flows to practice at home – this book not only describes individual poses beautifully clearly, and has introduced me to some I didn't even know, but it sets out a variety of vigorous flow sequences for me, so that I can practice anytime, anywhere I can lay my mat!

    You could argue that, in me, this wonderful book is preaching to the converted as I was already convinced of the benefits of yoga, but my previously skeptical, mad-cyclist husband has been using ‘Power Yoga for Athletes’ too, and is very excited about its potential to transform his fitness. The book demonstrates perfectly how yoga is ‘the ideal cross-training tool’, helping to overcome imbalances and asymmetries of muscle strength that many athletes may experience through conditioning in a discipline-specific way, and to develop balance, focus, flexibility – not to mention a stabilizing core strength – that help improve performance in any sport. The pose descriptions show the particular muscle groups that are activated, and indicate the sports best supported by each one – in addition, a training log at the back of the book lists the most beneficial poses by sport, allowing you to build up brand new sequences tailored to your own specific needs.

    Sean's bright and engaging writing style coupled with the clear, intuitive layout make it so easy to access the excellent content, while the quality of the print and binding give the book a high-class feel that would make it an ideal gift for any athlete in your life! Five Stars, without a doubt!!

    As someone that definitely does not consider themselves an athlete but who thoroughly enjoys yoga I must confess that I am in love with this book.

    Power Yoga For Athletes offers fantastic visuals and an extremely accessible layout making it a great choice for both beginners who want to try out yoga for the first time as well as those who wish to progress and improve their existing yoga technique.

    I’m a big fan of Sean’s YouTube instructional videos largely because he makes his workouts so accessible but also because he does such a great job of explaining precisely what you should be doing. I was really looking forward to seeing how his book would turn out and whether his unique style and humor would transcend to the written page.

    Once I began flipping though Sean's book it immediately inspired me to roll out the yoga mat and get to work with some previously unattempted poses. It’s safe to say that his inimitable teaching methods and passion for yoga (and life itself) are ingrained in every page of Power Yoga, proving once again that Sean Vigue really is a master of his art.

    Power Yoga for Athletes is the perfect addition to any training program. No matter what type of sport or activity you train for, regularly following the advice Sean Vigue gives in this book will help you improve your performance! I have taken many classes with Sean in person as well as online and I was thrilled to hear about this book. Over the years, taking his classes has helped me recover from injuries and improve my running form to prevent new injuries from occurring. The postures are explained in a way that makes it easy to follow whether you’ve ever taken yoga or not. If you’ve never taken yoga, I suggest using the book in conjunction with a couple of his online videos to make sure you’re really getting the hang of it. Once you get a feel for the postures (which are all really well described in the book), you can use one of the many different flows as Sean lays out in the book. You can try adding just a few poses prior to or following a workout, or do a full routine. Sean has a way of making any exercise approachable and fun and that really comes across nicely in the book. His expertise and passion for helping people unlock their potential shines through on every page. I’ve already added this book to my own routine and highly recommend it for anyone looking to boost their performance.

    There is a ton of useful information here about all aspects of yoga. I've been following Sean's YouTube channel for a while and thoroughly enjoy his workouts. I've managed to totally transform my body through running, weight training and yoga and at 47, I feel infinitely fitter and stronger than I did 20 years ago. This book feels like a logical "next step" and I'm sure it'll help me to improve my physical and mental performance in many areas of life. All in all, an excellent investment.

    This is the perfect book for anyone looking to realize all the benefits of yoga, while doing so at their own pace and on their own schedule. Sean has brought everything that makes his classes so amazing into this book. As a regular student in his power yoga class, I was so impressed to see how he translates that to the page. His instruction is encouraging, motivating, and thorough. The most important thing to me in this book was that Sean includes all the proper breathing techniques with each pose. Yoga is nothing without the correct breath. Sean also provides concise, and simple to follow instruction on all the little tips that great instructors know and share with their students.

    If you're looking to reap all the benefits yoga has to offer, start with this book. Following Sean's instruction, the benefits of yoga will permeate every aspect of your life.

    What a fantastically visual book. The lay out of the postures/poses is very easy to follow with photos, concise descriptions, targeted body areas and the sports each pose benefits. I also love the last section of the book that focuses on specific yoga flows with easy to follow photos. This book has helped with both my practice of yoga and getting my body ready and stronger for walking, running and spinning. I loved taking Sean's classes when he was in Florida because of his energy and knowledge. Always enjoyable and his energetic personality really comes through in his book. This book would be great for those who are new to yoga, advanced and anyone in between.
