Many of us are limited in our movements, hunched over, or tight. Office jobs and sofas can lead to bodies that are imprisoned in a cage of tension, whose tissue is dehydrated and stuck together, with some areas that are very weak or tight. Normal stretching is not strong enough to break us out of that state. When we tense our bodies and move through that tension, we engage the fascia and recondition it into a more youthful state, restoring great posture, elasticity, and power.

There are videos on the Moving Stretch website and youtube channel which demonstrate the exercises, so its good to use the book and the videos together to get clarity. I don't understand why there are not tens of thousands of views on the youtube, if not millions. Free your fascia with a consistent practice of these moving stretches.

    After a knee replacement, my recovery was fast for the first 3 months but then slowed down, even though I was doing the exercises provided by the excellent physio. I had discontinued the physio sessions as I thought I no longer needed them. The knee itself and muscles seem to be doing well but some of the other supporting structures (tendons, ligaments and connective tissues ie fascia) were still giving some discomfort. Since I bought this book as as Kindle book, my whole knee is getting better and, although I can't do some of the floor exercises, there are plenty of others, well-explained, that I can do and I have been impressed with the results. This may, of course, be a coincidence but I don't think so and some of my other areas, which were weakened as my knee deteriorated, have been improved too. I will continue to do the exercises I have been doing and add to them gradually because I have found the book and it's exercises so helpful (NB. After any operation of this kind it is sensible to get advice about what exercises to do. I have only done the exercises that were similar to/in line with those encouraged by the physio0

    There are a lot of myths surrounding stretching and this is one of the safest and most up to date approaches. It does take its inspiration from natural pandiculation, the stretching we tend to do on waking up. I have used the principles mentioned successfully for some time now, especially when I wake up with a stiff neck. A minute of slow, and controlled resistance stretching usually shifts the neck stiffness for me. It also helped to resolve and move my lower back pain, even though I had to consistently stretch for weeks and weeks until one day there was neither stiffness nor pain. One of the best overviews with plenty of exercise descriptions on safe stretching out there.

    This book is a great find ! It is filled with practical knowledge, clear pictures and instructions on how to to the exercises, etc... I already feel more invigorated and flexible after only a week ( I'm in my early 60's, and have been exercising for my whole life to at least some degree..) his book is the ticket for me - it will be my primary exercise companion to the end, it is just what I was needing. Resistance stretching is ( for me, and for those with old injuries) in my opinion, much safer than passive stretching. HIGHLY Recommended.

    I was a beginner with stretching and this book with easy but complete explanation makes you understand how to perform the stretches in a more effective way, giving you enough materials to create your own routine. I have started this quite a month ago and I feel some benefits already.

    So grateful to have been able go get hold of this amazing book whilst in isolation. I knew I needed to stretch to free up my hips but hadn’t realised how quickly it would work! I’ve tried so many different approaches with yoga, Pilates and general stretching when I used to do functional training. Nothing has worked as well as this! I think everyone who has suffered from tight muscles should read this and give the moving stretches a go! My chiropractor bills should go down too!! Will be buying this book as gifts for friends now. Thanks Suzanne for educating us!

    I am new to stretching, but already feeling the benefits of a more flexible body after just a few days of exercises. The ideas is to stretch the fascia, the connective tissue which holds our muscles in place and allows our bones to move, For anyone who is interested in yoga or exercise or plays sport, this may be something they would enjoy and benefit from learning about. The body's fascia contains fluid and nerves, and strengthening and stretching the fascia holds the promise of creating a body which moves more effectively and elegantly.
    The book is excellent value, large and very well illustrated with colour photographs throughout of people performing a wide variety of stretching exercises. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for ways to help their body feel more youthful and avoid or treat aches and pains.

    L’auteur ne perd pas son temps dans ce petit livre qui nous explique une nouvelle façon d’envisager le stretching. Elle nous donne les moyens de comprendre sa technique, et propose de très nombreux mouvements que nous pourrons appliquer pratiquement n’importe où. La détente sera au rendez-vous et no fascias seront heureux ! Merci à l’auteur pour ce joli travail.

    The book outlined the importance of fascia and the benefits of stretching with movement and resistance, instead of just static stretching. The descriptions and pictures were easy to follow and I especially enjoyed the stretches that were shown for those who work in an office/sitting environment. These stretches were quick and easy and can be incorporated into your day, when there is no time for a long workout.

    I've loved the book! I had the opportunity to hear about and practice the technique with Suzanne during a fascial symposium in the UK. Aware of the latest research about fascia, the nervous system and manual and movement therapies, this technique made a lot of sense to me.
    The book is outlined with easy to follow instructions and covers major muscle groups and regions throughout the body.
    I would highly recommend it for those folks who are interested in general movement and stretching practices as well as those attempting to recover from injury!

    I'm one of the models for this book (Milly - see p.209). I had been suffering for a couple of years with an ongoing lower back injury. I'd tried pilates, yoga and physiotherapy, and although they had all helped a bit I found that after only doing 2 weeks of this stretching there was a massive improvement to the strength and flexibility of my back, and the pains in my back pretty much disappeared. I've actually just bought myself another copy of this book to remind myself to start doing this stretching routine again, as it is the only thing that seems to completely cure my back pain. I find that once you've understood the concept of this type of resistance stretching, and you've practiced the stretching techniques in this book for a while, then the techniques can be very beneficial to incorporate into any yoga, pilates, or stretching workout. I haven't yet fully understood why yet (I'm a physics teacher so I like to know how things work), if you can apply resistance and tense your muscles whilst doing a stretch it is much easier to stretch and you feel much better for it! In summary: Try one of these routines everyday for at least two weeks and you will really start to feel some benefits and a change to your body :)

    Entièrement satisfaite du contenu du livre. L auteur a vraiment fait un travail de recherche très approfondi sur le sujet. Le contenu regroupe une importante partie théorique sur la nécessité d étirer les fascias ainsi qu une autre partie encore plus conséquente sur les exercices appropriés soutenus par de nombreuses photos. Tout est intéressant mais il n est pas nécessaire de tout lire pour tirer profit des exercices. Une fois le principe assimilé on peut trouver des applications dans n importe quelle situation. C'est vraiment très simple et très facile à appliquer, mais surtout le bénéfice est immédiat. Sensation de bien être musculaire, redressement de la stature, c est assez spectaculaire. Pour ma part, je ne fais pas encore d entraînement régulier mais le peu que je fais me fait un bien fou, particulièrement lorsque je suis restée assise longtemps.
    Un seul bémol, la couverture n est pas assez rigide, ce à quoi j ai remédié avec un bricolage maison. Utile, car je suis sûre que je vais beaucoup utiliser ce livre.

    I found this book is very interesting. There's lots of information about the different types of stretching not just working your fascia. I regularly do yoga so i found the workouts fairly straight forward to do but they did add a different aspect to stretching that I found beneficial. Anyone new to stretching or experienced stretchers would find this book informative & useful.
