I love how it offered information that sometimes we cannot see on the internet.     Bye-Bye Back Pain by Gray is informative and loaded with information, methods, techniques, and healing practiced I have never seen or read about before. It is well-structured and detailed. The author used her own experience and that of her patients, what makes the book a truly reliable source for those of us who suffer from back pain, or for those who have recently had surgery.
    Another thing I would like to highlight about this book is that the author seems to put herself in the shoes of patients, and that of readers. So, every word here seems to have been directly told by her to us in person. Recommended!

The author explained the causes of back pain, and included various treatment modalities, including using state of the art laser treatments. Everything was explained in a very knowledgeable way and the reader feels confident that what was presented will help them in their quest to relieve this common and painful condition. The author included a section of exercises and stretches, as well as diet and essential oils. For anyone who has suffered from back pain, this will benefit you to have on your bookshelf or electronic device the next time you have a flair-up or injury.

    As a person with ongoing back issues this book was informative and held my attention. The author Dr. Grace Walker Gray, a Dr. of Physical and Occupational therapy shares her story of health to one day becoming a patient needing healing from back pain. The first part of the book tells of her journey, methods and discovery of technologies used in her healing and those of her patients.

    I really wish I would have had this book during the early days of my accident recovery as the section on doctor selection would have been beneficial and saved time and effort in coordinating with my own doctors.

    The author's training and education in a number of disciplines offer a balanced approach to healing. Book chapters on exercise, nutrition, and holistic healing methods that aid the body’s own natural healing as a segue from prolonged prescription drugs were new to me. A desirable approach, I was impressed and took notes.

    I think this book is a must-read for those who have, are currently experiencing, or know of anyone experiencing back pain and are looking for a fresh approach to healing from back pain.

Dr. Walker Gray goes into detail explaining how and where back pain comes from, this is invaluable information to me, especially from someone with Dr. Walker Gray’s background and experience. I do have a list of very good body workers I frequent, but I need day to day maintenance and can’t rely on (or afford!) someone else to do that. I appreciate her in depth explanations and exercises to keep me going- I’m not done yet!!

    Speaking from experience after suffering from chronic, sometimes debilitating back pain for years, Dr Gray’s book is spot on when it comes to what you may learn in physical therapy. Essentially it’s all the education you need about a variety of conditions associated with back pain along with the “how to’s” of getting past the pain. She also provides tips on how to manage activities of daily living that are compromised when one has back pain. As a health educator myself I would encourage any back pain patient or individual not yet in physical therapy to use this as a practical guide with a guarantee that it will serve as a reinforcement or a way to wake up one day and find yourself in a miracle with your back pain.

    I followed the recommended exercise regimen and I found them to be tremendously helpful. She also offers a lot of great advice about how diet affects your back pain and offers other remedies as well.

    Finally, an honest and insightful book which addresses holistic solutions to back problems! For chronic suffers this advice can be life-changing. I know first-hand how too many Dr.'s want to treat all patients the same: Prescribe (toxic) medications and painkillers, and tell the patients to "rest." But what's really needed is a holistic approach for healing and strengthening the back. Dr. Grace is a remarkable healer who clearly cares about people and their well-being. Her book's knowledge is easily applied. It's the finest resource I've read!

    As a Physical Therapist Dr. Walker's book was a joy to read. While reading the book you feel her empathy and desire to help people with back pain. She reduces the complexity of back pain by explaining the meaning of the many medical diagnosis. Her chapters are easy to understand and explain the variety of ways a person can achieve pain relief. The chapter on exercise is especially well done. The diagrams and pictures demonstrate the SAFE method of carrying out an exercise program to achieve both flexibility and strength. The book provides both hope, understanding and guidance to those suffering from low back pain. A must read for patients and good reference for health professionals on the non-surgical treatment for low back pain.

    I originally bought Dr. Grace Walker's book, Bye Bye Back Pain for my husband, who had to go by ambulance to the hospital a couple of Sundays ago for the extreme pain back that he was experiencing. (During COVID, not a good thing). I have since used some of the exercises to build strength in my lower back from the aches and pains of standing too long while cooking and baking. As I went through the book, I was personally instilled with a sense of hope, that with the right exercise protocols, as laid out by Dr. Walker in concise and easy-to-follow laymen's terms, that my husband could attain a position of healing and hope. What I found very helpful was the context that Dr. Walker put around the different exercises, overviewing how issues with our backs get stressed over time and how specific back conditions can be ultimately healed- or at the very least, improved to comfortable sustaining levels. I highly recommend anyone with back problems to utilize this book as a means and a solution to optimizing strong and healthy backs.

    I have back pain and was very interested in this book. I like the concise documentation of the different possible solutions to try. I was very interested in the information concerning postures and also natural solutions.

    I have made a note to remind me to re-read the section on posture and activities of daily living to remind me to be more aware of my posture, which I fight with maintaining because of the time I spend in front of the computer.

    I’ve found physical therapists have solved more of my muscle, ligament and back issues than most doctors and orthopedists. They’re practical and straight forward and more comfortable with people. Dr. Walker Gray, a specialist in both physical and occupational therapy reminds me of my old family doctor, providing frank and practical suggestions in dealing with and healing back pain ranging from walking the dog to having sex. Unlike other book writers on the subject, she’s been dealing hands-on with back pain for many years. She explains the physiology, the back pain, and how and why it happens. I feel I now can ask better, more informed questions of the orthopedists when I have to see them. She also provides guidelines in choosing a good health care provider. She offers ways to alleviate the pain and promote healing and I liked the diagrams. They were clear and easy to follow. I finally really understand the difference between hot and cold applications (and who knew popcorn makes a great cold pack?). She also offers tools and products that have been helpful to her as a PT practitioner. I have more of an arsenal in dealing with the sciatica I am often bothered with. I am delighted to have found this book. It addresses a problem that is a real scourge in living an active fulfilled life.

    Dr. Grace Walker Gray has written an excellent book on back pain. The book is a thorough and concise holistic approach to healing back pain. She details every chapter methodically, from misconceptions, medications, do's & don'ts to diet and exercise. She discusses the human anatomy and the impact from inflammation, joint pain, bulging disc and many other conditions. This book is full of helpful graphics, personal stories and just good advice for a healthy back.

    I found this book extremely informative. Thank heaven I do not suffer from back pain. I know enough people who do that I know I would like to avoid it. Still, this book contains valuable information for everyday health, from the foods you eat to the medications you take. Most useful to me was the chapter on “Mindfulness.” I will use these skills every day. Thank you, Dr. Walker Gray for your clear descriptions on these meditation skills, and for the other useful information in your book.

    As an occupational therapist, I think this is a great book with helpful information for everyone, whether you are a working adult who needs postural tips or someone who lives alone who needs ideas to help simplify tasks and conserve energy. There is other dietary and exercise information that really brings the thought of personal healthcare full circle. Dr. Walker Gray does a fantastic job explaining the holistic perspective of healthcare, a very unique approach. Good read and could be a great gift, too.
