    I feel like this has all the yoga poses i would ever need. you can youtube a video of whichever pose you are trying to learn for better instruction. some of the better back and quad stretches like the bow are listed under total body exercises, just to keep in mind. skim through the whole book first, then just try to learn whatever poses you can, like maybe 2 a week. if someone hypothetically were to learn all the poses, their flexibility and mobility would be off the charts. im not sure personally i would ever be able to do that. But will be happy with a couple back/quad stretches, couple standing warrior type stretches, couple calves/hamstring stretches, couple upper body/hand stretches, couple groin/inner thigh stretches, and the downward/upward dog. you can kind of cover the whole body well in maybe 15 stretches. the standing warrior type stretches are really good for multiple body parts. For general flexibility, i cant see too many people wanting to go beyond these 100. but for people with limited flexibility, i could see them wanting to start out with an easier maybe geriatric yoga or yin yoga book depending on age. again, youtube really helps with any yoga book. i would really be interested if anyone is able to do all 100, that looks like it would be so much fun. if you have kids, i think it is a good idea to make them do this. they can probably learn the whole thing in a week and keep them off of video games, which are society's biggest evil in my opinion, lol. i would give this book 10 stars if i could.

    Following videos or random classes is often quite risky because they are a one size fits all. This book allows me to choose what is safe for me, and go at my own pace. Highly recommend this book.

    While I’m not new to yoga, this book helped me take my practice home. Hollister gives a thorough introduction to yoga, as well as educates us on all of the health benefits. From helping with asthma to headaches, Hollister has reminded me what a great addition yoga is to any lifestyle.     Last summer during my vacations, I have got a partial tear in my patellar tendon by badly falling on the floor which turned out in a long term procedure with GP and physiotherapist. After finishing my physiotherapy sessions recently, I was thinking about yoga exercises for strengthening my muscles. I have searched quite a lot about yoga exercises that I could easily do and to remember it all the time. But at times, it would easily slip out of my mind and then I had to search again for those exercises. So finally I found this amazing book of Susan about 100 Best Yoga Poses including Stress Relieve, Increase Flexibility, and to Strength muscles or gain some body strength.
    I have found stepwise instructions about yoga and its different types very beneficial such as Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa, Power, Ashtanga, Bikram, and Iyengar yoga. The good description has helped me in purging the body from toxins, sharpened my mind, relaxed my mind and strengthened my knee muscles specifically such as the big toe and extended a hand to the big toe posture.
    I have discovered this book very encouraging as it has the in-depth detail about the benefits of yoga. The great advantage I have found it that now with the help of this book, I can perform yoga easily at home for my different body parts. This book works as a mentor for me so I do not need to go to any yoga specialists, so I would recommend it to everyone for today’s busy life.

    If you are tired, sore, and stressed out, you might want to give yoga a try. When I read this book I learned the many benefits to doing yoga: improves brain function, protects you against heart disease, protects your joints and cartilage from wear and tear, improve your immunity, and reduce stress. I liked that yoga can be done in many places, including your home, and that you don’t need a lot to do yoga (a yoga mat, a towel, etc.). The only thing I knew prior to reading this book is the downward dog pose. This book provides great instructions on how to do warm up exercises, pictures of each exercise/pose, and breaking the yoga poses to different parts of the body (i.e. big toe, hand to big toe, arms and shoulders, back, hips, ear to shoulder, hands, and the whole body. If you are new to yoga or just wanting to learn more yoga poses.

    I just started doing yoga despite the fact I’ve had most of the basic “equipment” for more than a couple years now. I had purchased a book on Restorative Yoga and the necessary props needed to it (I spent about $160 on those props) and I didn’t quite understand really what that type of yoga involved. I simply googled “yoga for fibromyalgia” and that was what was suggested....

    I’ve had Fibromyalgia for just shy of 25 years. It has pretty much ruined my life. I was a full time, working RN and after 13 years of suffering from this debilitating disease, I became unable to work. Being in a motor vehicle collision caused by a drunk driver which caused 3 cervical herniated discs made my chronic pain worse. Battling breast cancer also contributed to my overall pain (chemotherapy can sometimes cause nerve damage/pain) so, my pain has been severe for years.

    I tried yoga years ago and subsequently injured myself. So, I gave up. Since then YouTube has grown and so have helpful videos on yoga routines and sequences.

    I started last week by following a video by “HasFit” on back stretches for low back pain. The video wasn’t titled “Yoga” but the instructor used yoga poses. I was able to complete half of the 20 min video and amazingly, felt relief from it.

    So I got this book and I am thrilled that I did.
    The author organizes the book by body region and goes into the poses that are indicated for such areas. Each pose is labeled by degree for beginners, intermediate, and advanced. Furthermore, each pose describes how to do them, step by step. Each pose lists what detailed body part is beneficial for the pose and also, when to AVOID that pose.

    The book is VERY comprehensive. You’ll also find examples of routines, as well.

    Finally, this book is not only GREAT for beginners but, for those with yoga experience too.
    Also included are breathing techniques and explanations as well.

    I’ve read several “Yoga for Beginners” books and researched MANY free websites for guidance and instructions.
    This book is by far, well worth the money and time to read.

    Get it, you WON’T be disappointed.

    I am a beginner and this book helps me greatly. I am an autodidact so I love learning new skills on my own. This book explains every move in detail. I feel I progressed and doing better in my yoga classes. Liforme Yoga Mat helped GREATELY.

Especially contradiction is useful to know. The description of exercises is easy to follow and understanding. You can select your favourites position from the easiest like the Warrior, the Mountain to more advance like Sun Salutation or Lord of the Dance.     As a chronic migraine sufferer, I always wanted to give yoga a go as I had heard that it can be of great benefit with regards to migraines, however I had always thought it was for tall, thin, flexible people and not for the vertically challenged in other words short, portly people! I found it most refreshing that the author was totally honest at the start by stating that yoga is not for everybody and that you don’t have to spend lots of money getting specialised equipment. I was also concerned that I would not be able to dedicate the time needed however I was happy to read that although the recommended amount was 2 – 3 days a week you can do a little or a lot it really is left up to you. The book is informative and easy to understand, with detailed descriptions of the poses, how they should be completed, for what length of time you should hold the pose and how you should breathe throughout. There are some great sample routines that are ideal whether you are just getting started or are accomplished in the art of yoga. I would recommend the book to all as it really does answer all the questions about yoga and how it can help you.

    I bought this book on yoga poses to give me an introduction to yoga before I joined a class. It did that wonderfully well but took me further than I ever thought I would go with just a book to guide me. There was the obvious warning about stretching and warming up and then very simple poses that I could do at home without worrying that I might hurt myself. I took note of breathing and meditating techniques and really enjoyed them. I did find that the breathing helped relieve stress and was brave enough to tackle some of the more advanced poses. The book has done the trick and helped me decide that yoga is well worth doing. Maybe I don't need a class as this book is so explicit and easy to follow. As a lighter aside, I loved some of the names like half-moon, deer seal and salutation. Well done Susan Hollister.

    As an athlete, I needed a way to stay in shape this summer when I’m traveling long distances in the car. This book was great because it’s really easy to read and the chapters are broken up based on the body part you want to focus on. I could do isolated yoga for my neck and hands while I was in the car and then when I got to my hotel I could do more of a full body session. The instructions are clear and it’s really interesting to read through all of the poses and see how each of them benefits your overall health. The breathing techniques have really helped my stress levels go down.

    I’ve always been cautious of yoga; it seemed complicated and almost post-modern to me but not anymore. This book really simplified the complexities into such manageable pieces that even I felt like immediately taking up yoga. The book starts out clearly describing all the real-life benefits of yoga – there are quite a few – and walks you through just how to do a hundred different poses all categorized based on what parts of the body they work with. The author goes even farther than that by clearly describing what each pose works, what health effects it has, and describes exactly how to do the pose. Speaking as a previously completely unexperienced yoga-doer, I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to get into yoga.

    For anyone who's ever been curious about yoga but didn't know when to start, this is the perfect book. Susan Hollister not only gives you the "how" of yoga, but also the "why." The benefits are explained clearly, such as how it can make you more flexible, sharpen your mind, help your sex life and your overall longevity. For the poses, Hollister breaks each of them down wonderfully. The bulleted instructions, and (in some cases) images, give beginners the perfect understanding of this relaxing and rewarding exercise. This is a great reference for anyone interested in yoga.

    I've been meaning to try yoga for years now, and this book really motivated me and helped me realize it's not as hard or complicated as I thought. The thing that Susan Hollister makes clear right off the bat is that yoga is for everyone and that you don't need to spend a bunch of money on extra things to do it. I was really surprised by the amount of ailments and issues that yoga can take care of, the whole second chapter is dedicated to describing all the benefits of doing yoga. I was particularly happy to see that it helps heal chronic migraines, which I suffer from, as well as asthma, it's also a mood enhancer and can even boost your sex drive! Another fear I had about starting yoga has always been the amount of time I have to dedicate to it, but Susan explains that it's a very lax exercise that you can do as much or as little as you'd like, but 2-3 days is her recommendation. The book is filled with very detailed descriptions of the poses, and how you should ease into them, hold them and breath during them. In the end, Susan includes sample routines she has made for different levels, purposes and times of the day. All in all this book is extremely thorough and has answered all the questions I had about yoga, I'm definitely going to start doing some poses before bed!
