    This book is great. I love the pictures and the clarity of instruction. I mostly have a home practice, so will consult this book for more advanced poses. Each pose is broken down to explain how you get into it, where your focus should be, and what you should be thinking about (i.e., back leg strong, shoulders back, pelvis stacked, etc.). It is a great addition to my library.

    I have been practicing yoga for about 3 years. This book is not really for beginners but those who've put a little sweat time in. I found it extremely helpful with alignment of vinyasa based foundation poses as well as getting the courage to try more advanced poses. Let's face it, if we could get one on one training all the time at the studio we wouldn't need this book. Most of us don't have that luxury so reading this book's step-by-step instructions has truly made a difference in my practice!

    Naming yourself a "complete guide" to anything is a tall order but this book delivers. From the exquisite photographs down to the concise informative instruction, it is just that, "complete." As a yoga instructor, I am thankful for this book. It helps me in planning my classes and in paring down my cueing. From a student's point of view, this book is essential. There are several books covering the topic of inversions and yoga but this one blows all of the others out of the water! Buy it and get turned upside down...

    In THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO YOGA INVERSIONS: Learn How to Invert, Float, and Fly with Inversions and Arm Balances, Jennifer DeCurtins provides readers with detailed descriptions of foundational yoga asanas, inversions, and arm balances. Ms. DeCurtins’ explanation of each yoga posture includes an accurate and effective method on how to get into the posture, where to engage hands and feet on the yoga mat, and tips on how to deepen the asana.     Such a great yoga resource for students and teachers. While the book title is focused on inversions, the book also includes foundational information about essential poses such as downward facing dog, warrior 1, side angle, triangle, etc. The book then builds on those "gateway poses" and shows you advanced variations. For example, from warrior 1, the book then takes you through variations such as humble warrior, flying splits, bird of paradise and astavakrasana. Each pose has "how to get there" step by step instructions and "where to engage" pointers that are great tips for cuing students. The "anatomy notes/tips & tricks" often give pointers about what to practice first if the full pose isn't accessible yet - great encouragement to keep practicing. The photography is beautiful and the book is laid out in a way that makes it very easy to read. This is a book I'll refer to often both in my own practice and in teaching!

I like that there is a "gateway" pose as they call it in the book, with all the various transitions into getting into the different inversions/sum balance. Excellent reference book! Great for any yogi friend, and for anyone at any level in their practice.
